barkmimo.pet v2: a whole new mimo!
so i finally got around to this. honestly not a ton has changed besides a visual touch up, but that in its own right is a lot. i'm not a photoshop enjoyer... so. :3
anyways, a lot has changed and my available time has shrunk since my first version of this site. the fact that this site was essentially a re-skin of em's website always bothered me a lot. not because that site isn't amazing, but because it wasn't me doing the thing for myself
it was helpful to aim towards their site as an initial, guiding effort to plunge into this thing. but i always wanted to make my internet presence my own, ya know? i think this was a great first step towards it. and of course, everything subject to change. more will be done as ideas come :3
i'll keep this project post fairly minimal. feel free to browse around and let me know your thoughts of the new experience!
i do still want to use the old sidebar image for something though ... hmmm
da old...
new mimo!
hint! click the S key sometimes ... hehehe
another thing i am working on is an entire backend refactor. things like blog posts, project posts, old and new music releases... everything is a bit clunky and awkward to interact with from my side. i actually just sorta ,,,.... gave up... on updating things because of it. but that's going to change!
some things i intend on making better:
- file parsing
- easier db interactions
- cleaner separation of code chunks
- better packaging of data to backend-supported pages
the ideal end goal is that interacting with this site from an authoring standpoint doesn't flat out suck. being able to create, update, refactor, redesign, and delete data-orientied pieces from this site should be relatively simple and straightforward. that way, my site truly feels like my own! :3
